Re: News Clarification : MCOT Television project Aborted or Delayed
Dear Sir:
With reference to the news regarding the MCOT TV project, which was stated
as a future plan of the Company in the Offering Circular dated on 21
October 2005 for MCOT IPO shares, has been aborted or delayed without
the properly inform to the public through the SET channel, MCOT would
like to clarify that all the headlines in the newspaper are twisted from the
fact. Specifically, the MCOT TV project is stated in the Offering Circular
in Section 2 on the sector of Risk Factors No. 1.1.6 and Future Plan No.6.2
that "....the Company is commissioning a detailed study from an
independent third party consultant to assist the Company in evaluating in
detail the return and investment as well as implementation plan. Management
will consider the projected capital investment and projected costs, returns
of the project, and other supporting factors before deciding whether to
proceed." Therefore, no indication that the Company has decided to
proceed the project already.
And the Company would like to inform that L.E.K. Consulting
(ASIA PACIFIC) LLP is acting as the advisor of this project, and
L.E.K. already submitted the feasibility study to the Board of
the Company Meeting No.3/2005 dated 23 March 2005.
The resolutions are as follows :
The Meeting acknowledged the feasibility study proposed by
L.E.K. Consulting (ASIA PACIFIC) LLP and instructed the management
to follow up on :
1. To do additional feasibility study
2. To seek for strategic partners
As a result, the resolution above does not point out the conclusion
as written in the newspaper.
Currently, the project is under the preliminary study stage. The result
of the additional feasibility study will be submitted to the Board of the
Company, and then the resolution of the Meeting will be informed to SET.
Sincerely yours,
(Mr. Thanachai Wongthongsri)
